Dear Community Members,

We are facing a heartbreaking moment. Our historic graveyard Jafri Bagh located in Holwadag, Mogadishu, known as “Qaburaha Ceel Hindi”, —where our parents, grandparents and relatives rest, is under threat. 

This is sacred site for us, which has stood for over a century, has been unlawfully occupied and partially demolished. This is not merely a violation of property rights, but also a profound desecration of our cultural and Muslim religious heritage.

This is not just about land. It’s about our respect owed to our parents, grandparents and fellow community members who have passed away and buried there.

We must act now to protect what remains and ensure this never happens again. A petition has been launched to demand immediate intervention and legal protection for the graveyard.

We are pursuing to the best of our abilities all diplomatic channels and taking action on the ground to secure the graveyard.
