Please help save the life of a Sri Lankan migrant worker and give his family hope.

We respectfully appeal to the authorities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to show mercy and compassion toward Sivarasa Anojan, a Sri Lankan migrant worker who is reportedly facing the death penalty following legal proceedings in Saudi Arabia concerning a social-media comment.

According to reports, Anojan was initially sentenced to five years' imprisonment and a fine of SAR 3 million. Following an appeal, his punishment was reportedly enhanced to capital punishment.

The Sri Lankan Government has confirmed that it is closely monitoring the case through the Sri Lankan Embassy in Riyadh and engaging with the relevant Saudi authorities. The Embassy has reportedly been awaiting the formal written judgment, while available legal remedies are being pursued.

We respectfully ask the Saudi authorities to:
1. Allow all available legal remedies to proceed fully and fairly.

We respectfully request that Anojan's legal appeal and all available judicial procedures be allowed to proceed without delay.

2. Consider clemency, mercy or commutation of the reported death sentence.

We appeal to the competent Saudi authorities to consider a merciful resolution, including pardon, clemency or commutation of the sentence, if legally available.

3. Consider the humanitarian circumstances of his family.

Behind this case is a family facing the possibility of losing a son, brother and loved one. His family is appealing for compassion and the opportunity for Anojan to return home.

4. Support a humanitarian and diplomatic resolution.

We respectfully encourage the Governments of Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka to continue working together through diplomatic and legal channels to seek a humane resolution.

This is an appeal for mercy, not confrontation.
We respect the laws, sovereignty, culture and religious traditions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Our appeal is made peacefully and respectfully.

We believe that mercy and compassion can provide an opportunity for a humanitarian resolution while allowing the legal process to continue.
