Maryam’s Family in Gaza Urgently Needs Help

Right now, Muslims around the world are entering some of the most sacred days of the year, the days of Hajj and Eid al-Adha. These are days centred around family, generosity, compassion, prayer, and sharing meals together with loved ones.
For many Muslim families like Maryams, Eid is similar in importance and emotion to Christmas.
It is a time when children normally receive gifts, wear new clothes, eat meals, and spend time surrounded by warmth, celebration, and family traditions.
But for Maryam’s family, this year looks very different, as did the past three years. This is Maryams familys 15th displacement.
Instead of preparing for celebration, they are trying to survive inside a deteriorating tent after many months of displacement and hardship.
The mattresses they sleep on are breaking down from constant exposure to weather, dampness, dirt, and heat. Bedding and clothing are difficult to properly wash because water, soap, detergent, and hygiene supplies are scarce and expensive. The materials around them are wearing out, while daily living conditions continue to worsen.
Food insecurity remains severe, and even basic necessities have become difficult to access.
For children living through this, Eid does not feel like a celebration. It feels like another difficult day of survival.
And that is what makes this so heartbreaking.
Imagine what Christmas would feel like if your family were living through this.
Imagine children waking up on Christmas morning inside damaged shelters without proper food, clean bedding, presents, or any sense of security.
That is the reality many families in Gaza are facing right now.
At the same time, these sacred days are deeply associated with kindness and helping those in need. Many Muslims believe there is immense spiritual reward in feeding fasting people and supporting struggling families during this period. But beyond religion, the message is universal: when people are suffering, we help where we can.
Many of us are fortunate to be in a position where we can still create moments of comfort, dignity, and happiness for others, even from far away.
Maryam urgently needs support right now to help her family through this period.

• Food for the family during Eid
• Clean water and hygiene essentials
• Soap, detergent, and washing supplies
• Replacement mattresses, blankets, and bedding
• Clothing and small Eid gifts for the children
• Essential daily survival needs as conditions continue to deteriorate, transport, waste removal and more
Even small donations can make a meaningful difference. A clean blanket, proper meal, hygiene supplies, or a small gift for a child can restore a sense of dignity and hope during an incredibly painful time.
