Urgent Action required re Youth Anti-Social Behaviour in Paisley Town Centre
The Issue
Running a small business in Paisley Town Centre has become increasingly challenging due to persistent youth anti-social behaviour. Most of my time is now spent chasing away kids from the roof of my shop, and repeatedly contacting the police, only to see no substantial consequences for these youths. In just the past week, they have set fires four times at the back of my property, causing concern for safety and financial loss.
Paisley Town Centre is the heart of our community, but the continued anti-social activities carried out by unsupervised youth are severely impacting the daily operations and safety of local businesses. Business owners, shoppers, and residents alike deserve a secure and welcoming environment. Instead, they are forced to navigate an area plagued by repeated vandalism, intimidation, and disruption.
According to statistics from local law enforcement, incidents of youth-related crimes have risen by 20% in the past year alone. This alarming increase can no longer be ignored. It is imperative that local government officials and the police force implement effective measures to address and reduce these behaviours.
We propose a comprehensive strategy to tackle the issue at its core. This includes increased police patrols during peak hours, better support for youth engagement programs that offer constructive alternatives, and a review of existing penalties to ensure they serve as effective deterrents.
Increasing Police Patrols is a minimal deterant when the Police Force have their hands tied with current laws in dealing with youth offenders. Laws need to be changed, sooner rather than later.
By taking these actions, we can restore Paisley Town Centre to a vibrant and safe area for everyone. The support of our community is crucial for pushing this agenda forward. Sign this petition to urge the local authorities to prioritize tackling youth anti-social behaviour in Paisley Town Centre before it's too late.
