Urge Wizards of the Coast to Stop Releasing Straight to Modern and Straight to Legacy Sets

Urge Wizards of the Coast to Stop Releasing Straight to Modern and Straight to Legacy Sets
The Issue
We are members of a once-flourishing community of card gamers. Our local card shops were places of lively competition, where friends and rivals gathered to match wits and strategies. But the landscape of our beloved hobby is changing - and not for the better for many of us. Wizards of the Coast straight to Modern/Legacy sets like MH2, MH3, and LoTR have introduced significantly overpowered must play cards that every that can support them are forced to include to stay competitive, rotating the format, deleting staple beloved cards like Delver and soon Daze, and causing upheaval to the game's various formats. The release of these sets has precipitated costly upgrades, discouraging many from continuing their participation. The decks that used to boast a balance of costs and strengths are now overshadowed by those wielded by the few who can afford the expensive new cards. All three of my local shops report dwindling sales due to this excessive power creep fatigue, and many previous legacy and modern players are switching to PreMarvel Pauper, Premodern, 2015 Modern, PreUB (Pre-Universes Beyond) Pioneer Foundations, 2024 Modern and Premarvel Legacy Foundations.
Legacy and Modern players switched over to these formats precisely because they couldnt keep up with constant rotation. Modern and Legacy were thriving in our local card shops before MH2 and MH3. The constant subplanting of format staples by insanely powerful mechanics like initiative and energy decks, or over powered must answer cards like Psychic Frog and The One Ring just being the two most recent examples stifling rogue strategies, creativity and diversity in game play, leading to a monoculture that is significantly decreasing the fun factor. All of this is driving many of us towards alternative formats like Premodern, PreMarvel Pauper, Premodern, 2015 Modern, PreUB (Pre-Universes Beyond) Pioneer Foundations, 2024 Modern and Premarvel Legacy Foundations.
We are pleading for change. We call on Wizards of the Coast to break this destructive cycle, to listen to the voices of their fans who miss the slower pace of rotation of Modern, Legacy and Pioneer. We urge for a halt in releasing sets that go straight to Pioneer, Modern or Legacy. You can release commander cards in commander precons and leave the other nonrotating formats alone please. Remember, there is more to this game than just sales. There's a community made up a variety of different players. Pioneer, Modern and Legacy players moved to these formats either for the slower pace of rotation, or to play their beloved cards and decks they grew up with that give them nostalgia. Sign this petition if you want Wizards to stop releasing straight to Modern, straight to Legacy and straight to Pioneer sets.
