As a night shift worker, I, along with countless others, rely on the convenience of 24-hour stores like Walmart for our daily needs. The decision to reduce operating hours has significantly impacted us. We are left with limited options for shopping after work and this change has added unnecessary stress to our already challenging schedules.

Walmart's decision to limit store hours was initially made in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, as safety measures have improved and vaccination rates have increased across the country (CDC), it is time for Walmart to reconsider their operating hours.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that nearly 15 million Americans work full time on evening shift, night shift, rotating shifts or other irregular schedules. For these hardworking individuals who contribute significantly to our economy, having access to 24-hour services is not a luxury but a necessity.

We understand that there may be logistical challenges involved in returning back to round-the-clock operations. Yet we believe that as one of the largest retail corporations globally with over $500 billion in revenue (Fortune Global 500), Walmart has both the resources and responsibility towards its customers' needs.
