I am a resident of Wright Park, Springs, South Africa. We are currently facing a significant issue due to the lack of competition in our local fibre market. Our area is serviced by only one fibre provider whose pricing is high and customer service leaves much to be desired.

The digital age has made internet access not just a luxury but an essential utility for work, education and communication. Yet, we find ourselves at the mercy of this monopolistic situation that affects our daily lives negatively.

We believe that if Vuma were to install their fibre network in our respective areas, it would introduce much-needed competition. This could potentially lead to lower prices and improved customer service as providers would need to compete for customers.

According to Statistics South Africa (2016), only 10% of households in Gauteng province have access to the internet at home. The introduction of another provider like Vuma could significantly increase this percentage by making internet access more affordable and reliable for residents like us in Wright Park.

Therefore, we urge Vuma and relevant authorities to consider installing their fibre network in Wright Park and Pollack Park as soon as possible. Please sign this petition if you support better broadband options for all residents of Wright Park and Pollack Park!
