Ibrahim was suspended for expressing his views on the Israel-Palestine conflict, a topic that is indeed controversial but necessary to discuss openly. Especially considering the recent public awakening to the true history of the crimes that Israel has committed against the Palestinians over the past century. Just like there was once controversy surrounding discussions about apartheid in South Africa, today's discourse around Israel and Palestine requires courage and honesty.

United Airlines' decision to suspend Ibrahim not only silences him but also sends a chilling message to others who may wish to express their views on contentious issues. It is essential for our democratic society that individuals are allowed to voice their opinions without fear of reprisal.

According to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), freedom of speech is fundamental in a democratic society because it allows citizens to express their ideas and contribute towards shaping public opinion (ACLU). Dismissing an employee for expressing personal views outside work hours infringes upon this right.
