Urge UNHCR to Oppose Refugee Deportations in Lebanon: Demand Justice for Mr Lahib

Urge UNHCR to Oppose Refugee Deportations in Lebanon: Demand Justice for Mr Lahib
The issue
This petition is both global and personal. My Syrian friend, Mr Jumaa Mohammad Lahib, has received an order for deportation from Lebanon to Syria with one month's notice. An Al-Ozai University Alumnus, he lives in Lebanon with his wife and five children. Registered with the UNHCR since 2012, he now faces an uncertain future.
Lebanon hosts approximately 1.5 million Syrian refugees who have fled their homes due to the ongoing conflict in Syria (source: Amnesty International). Many of these refugees are registered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), which offers them some protection and assistance.
However, recent deportation orders like Mr Lahib's threaten to uproot these vulnerable individuals from their current homes and send them back into danger. This goes against international law principles that prohibit returning people to places where they risk being persecuted - known as non-refoulement.
We call upon the UNHCR to take immediate action against these deportation orders in Lebanon and uphold its mandate of protecting refugees worldwide. We urge them not only for Mr Lahib but also for countless other refugees facing similar circumstances.
Please sign this petition today and stand up for human rights by urging the UNHCR to oppose these unjust deportation orders and encourage foreign embassies to facilitate resettlement.
