Urge UK government to stop any indirect or direct military action against Iran
The Issue
In the wake of rising tensions between the United Kingdom and Iran, it is imperative to ensure that all diplomatic efforts and international cooperation avenues are fully explored and exhausted before considering any form of military intervention. UK citizens and global communities alike are concerned about the devastating consequences that unsanctioned military actions could lead to, not only for regional stability but also for global peace security and economy. Military actions increase the worldwide prices of fuel, Gas, Electricity and Groceries etc.
Historically, unilateral military actions without broad international consensus and legal backing, such as a mandate from the United Nations, have often resulted in prolonged conflicts with catastrophic humanitarian impacts and destabilization of entire regions. According to the Costs of War project at Brown University, the wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria after 2001 have directly resulted in the deaths of over 800,000 people and displaced over 37 million. These conflicts have shown that military engagements lacking international legitimacy can have severe long-term impacts and far-reaching consequences.
The United Nations, through its Charter, is tasked with the maintenance of international peace and security. Engaging military force should be a last resort and pursued only when there is clear and collective agreement on the necessity to protect lives and secure peace. A UN mandate ensures that any use of force is subjected to rigorous international scrutiny, reduces the likelihood of arbitrary military decisions, and enhances the legitimacy of the action.
We appeal to the UK Government to adhere strictly to international law and multilateral processes by ruling out any direct or indirect military action against Iran without a UN mandate. Diplomacy, dialogue, and international cooperation should always take precedence, offering sustainable solutions that prevent loss of life and promote enduring peace.
Please Support this petition and urge the UK Government to commit to a peaceful and lawful approach towards Iran.
Public opinions are very important for the politicians as they need to respect it as they are in power because of the votes of the public and if they want to stay in power in the next election. Please do not be passive. If you do not take any action no matter how small to stop a war you are also be indirectly to some extend part of any injustices that happen in a war.
