The Issue

Several times per day, I receive phone calls and text messages asking about car warranties expiring, employment opportunities, insurance scams, and other fraudulent schemes. It doesn't matter how many numbers I block; they keep calling from different numbers with the same scams, often using area codes that are specific to my personal line. This relentless barrage of unwelcome communications disrupts daily life and invades personal privacy.

The National Do Not Call Registry was established to protect consumers like myself from these intrusive telemarketing calls and scam messages. However, it has become apparent that this registry is not being adequately enforced. Telemarketing companies continue to flout the laws, preying on individuals regardless of their inclusion on the Do Not Call List. This ongoing issue not only affects personal privacy but also poses risks of potential scams that could cause financial harm to unsuspecting individuals.

Statistically, the Federal Trade Commission receives millions of complaints annually about violations of the Do Not Call rules. Despite these numbers, enforcement actions against violators have dwindled, leaving citizens vulnerable to endless spam calls. The United States Government needs to take robust action to ensure the effectiveness of the National Do Not Call Registry.

We urge President Donald Trump to prioritize the reinforcement of this critical consumer protection tool. By increasing penalties for violators and enhancing technology to identify and block these calls effectively, we can restore the integrity of the registry and protect consumers.

Let’s reclaim our right to privacy and security from unwanted telemarketing calls and SMS scams. Please sign this petition to demand that the U.S. Government revamp and strictly enforce the National Do Not Call Registry.
