As an individual who runs an animal rescue, I am deeply disturbed by the live streaming of animal births on TikTok Live. These unique and intimate moments are often exploited for entertainment rather than focusing on the welfare of the animals. Misinformation is rampant in these live events, potentially leading to neglect or improper care of animals.

Research suggests that stress during birth can lead to complications in animals, especially when exposed to a large, anonymous audience online (Source: American Veterinary Medical Association). We must also consider the dignity owed to these animals during such sensitive times. In a Country that euthanized 748k domestic animals last year alone (Source: shelteranimalscount.org) we should not be promoting or glorifying the birth of more animals on Live streams where their best interest is not being considered.   

The community guidelines of TikTok Live must be updated to protect our furry friends from potential mistreatment and exploitation. We urge TikTok to take immediate action and ban the live streaming of animal births.
