Hello again Folks,
Greetings to you all especially those who’ve taken time to sign the petition and also to put their signatures to the paper request that was meant for the council meeting on the 26th June 2024.
The update at this point is that I declined the request from direct democracy (the body that deals with petitions) for the council to process just about 20 signatures to be put before the council meeting for consideration.
The reason being that 20 signatures is not at all enough to impact the councils decision.
I have advised that we are still collecting signatures both online and on paper so as to present and table a very strong and clear message. It would also be unfair to exclude signatures of those who’ve taken the pains to sign. We want EVERY signature recognised and included. At present we have got just over 3089 of online signatures and I am putting out more leaflets for paper signatures. I have been advised that I will be contacted with the date to submit the signatures for verification and that I will be given 3 minutes to address the Council meeting on the 26th June 2024.
I will be placing leaflets in local shops and post offices so that many more signatures can be gathered. I will appreciate if more residents can volunteer to spread the word and help gather as many more signatures as possible.
A great big thank you to those who have already done so.
We are aiming to collect over 5000 signatures which will be presented to the Council meeting in June.
Let us make this happen.
I will keep you updated.
Arthur Findlay.
