As a growing worldwide movement, we are deeply disturbed by the ongoing and inhumane practices inflicted upon Beagles, specifically through the operations of Marshall BioResources - who are located in five countries. For over five decades, these gentle Beagles have endured relentless pain,  trauma and death, their suffering compounded by the unscrupulous methods employed by this corporation. 

Our heart aches with each tale of a Beagle suffering at the hands of so-called "scientific" tests. For over fifty years, Beagles have endured unimaginable pain, particularly those bred by Marshall BioResources, a company notorious for its ruthless breeding and abusive practices, to sell to scientific industries to undergo barbaric scientific tests, often conducted without any form of anaesthetic, effectively violating the Animal Welfare Act. They breed more than 20,000 Beagles annually, branding them with tattoos in their ears as mere property, and subjecting them to unethical and inhumane treatment.

The plight of these Beagles is not just a statistic – it’s a lingering nightmare. These animals are stripped of their vocal cords to silence them before they are even eight weeks old, ensuring their cries are left unheard during "excruciating testing procedures''. Such actions are not only morally reprehensible but also opposed to the very principles of humane and ethical animal treatment. 

Animal-welfare organisations have accused Marshall BioResources of deliberately breeding dogs with "serious physical abnormalities" to meet the 'specifications' of laboratories purchasing animals for painful testing without anaesthetic. PETA has reported that a Marshall representative stated that the company would breed dogs with requested characteristics, even citing examples such as "three legs" or an "abnormally large heart".  This raises profoundly disturbing ethical questions about deliberately creating animals with abnormalities so they can subsequently be used as experimental subjects.

PETA whistleblowers have shed light on the grim reality these innocent Beagles face: confined to dismal, faeces-littered dirty wire cages, their paws are red raw from standing on metal bars for the entire time they  are imprisoned in metal cages. Investigations into large-scale breeding facilities like Marshall BioResources have documented rough handling by staff resulting in jaw injuries, stress-induced cage fighting, and damaged equipment that can lead to dental and physical trauma. Animal welfare reports frequently highlight compromised health and inadequate veterinary care in these mass-breeding environments. These Beagles endure a life devoid of any care. 

Marshall BioResources has faced serious allegations from animal-welfare organisations concerning the treatment of female Beagles used for breeding. Critics allege that some females are kept in breeding programmes for many years and subjected to repeated pregnancies.

It's time to stand up for these vulnerable creatures and let the United Nations know how desperate this situation is becoming. Despite being protected under the Animal Welfare Act, violations continue unchecked, and innocent Beagles continue to suffer. We need the United Nations to intervene and put an end to this cycle of pain and exploitation. Humane scientific alternatives exist, and there is no justification for allowing such inhumane practices to persist. We need the United Nations to recognise Beagles as sentient beings.

The time has now come for the United Nations to hold Marshall BioResources  accountable for their actions. Their practices not only breach animal welfare laws but also compromise the ethical standards of scientific research. With your support, we can push for immediate action from international global authorities and the United Nations, ensuring that all unrelenting and cold-blooded scientific testing on Beagles ends now, stopping the unnecessary pain and suffering they endure in silence.
