Urge The Sir Robert Woodard Academy to Amend its Expensive and Unsustainable Uniform Policy

Urge The Sir Robert Woodard Academy to Amend its Expensive and Unsustainable Uniform Policy
The Issue
As a mother of three children who attend, or have previously attended The Sir Robert Woodard Academy (SRWA) in Lancing, UK, I know the struggle of constantly replacing school uniforms throughout the year. My family, like many others, is burdened by the significant cost of these branded items, including the branded blazer, jumper, house ties and PE items. Not only do these items falter in quality, they also become too small quickly due to the rapid growth of children aged 11-18.
Unfortunately, my family is not the only one facing these hardships. Countless families within our community are experiencing financial stress due to the exorbitant costs of these uniforms.
In addition, it's important to consider the environmental impact of such practices. Textile production accounts for 1.2 billion tonnes of CO2 per year, lending urgency to the need for sustainable solutions. Schools have a responsibility to influence the communities they serve in a positive manner, and promoting sustainable practices is a key part of that responsibility.
The solution? A uniform policy that is both affordable and sustainable. A plain black jumper with a removable SRWA pin, for example, could help to significantly reduce costs and encourage sustainability.
We are urging SRWA to amend its uniform policy to be more affordable, reduce the environmental impact, and ease the financial burden on families.
We cannot do this alone. We need your support. Please, sign our petition today to encourage SRWA to amend its uniform policy.
