I am an avid runner and fitness enthusiast, like many others in our community. We have been deprived of a safe and accessible place to exercise since 2020 when the PhilSports Arena Track Oval was closed to the public. This facility, funded by taxpayers' money, has been sitting idle while we scramble for places to maintain our physical health.

The closure of this track oval has not only impacted us fitness enthusiasts. According to a study by The Lancet, regular physical activity is associated with lower risks of several diseases and can contribute positively towards mental health (Source: The Lancet). By denying access to such facilities, we are inadvertently promoting an unhealthy lifestyle among Filipinos.

We understand that there may be valid reasons for its closure. However, as it is funded by taxpayers' money, it is only fair that we are given access or at least provided with a suitable alternative.

We call upon the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) to reopen the PhilSports Arena Track Oval or provide us with an equivalent facility where we can safely workout and run.
