Petition to Mayor Emerson, City of Iowa Falls. We the undersigned residents of Iowa Falls, urge you to support the City Council’s decision Not to Affirm the reappointment of Police Chief Josh Nelson. 

Families in Iowa Falls want to live in a community where law enforcement officials are committed to accountability, transparency, and building relationships based on mutual respect. There have been several incidents that have strained public trust and underlined the urgent need for leadership that aligns with our community standards.

The City Council’s vote reflects a clear desire for leadership that can rebuild trust, strengthen transparency, and ensure that our police department serves Iowa Falls with professionalism and integrity. We ask that you respect the Council’s oversight authority and work alongside them to initiate a transparent and comprehensive search for new leadership that will best serve all residents of Iowa Falls. We believe it is best to start by appointing an Interim Police Chief immediately while working through the hiring process.
