Dear Amie,
Thank you for drawing this matter to the attention of Unlimited Oxfordshire.
I have visited the site and found that:
1. The hump is higher and more abrupt than Oxfordshire County Council's preferred standard;
2. The hump is inappropriate for a bus route, and could become a factor in preventing the reinstatement of the former hourly bus service between Chipping Norton and Kingham rail station;
3. The hump is 95-100mm high at the edge adjacent to the build-out kerb, but more detailed measurements would be required to determine whether is is higher in the middle.
4. The hump is borderline for being illegal. If any part of the hump is found to be higher than 100mm, it will be proved to be non-compliant with the Hump Regulations 1999. Such non-compliance would make the hump illegal.
You may forward this email to OCC and to Churchill Parish Council if you wish.
I'll be interested to know in due course the Parish Council's view, and how OCC respond further to your complaint on this matter.
In the meantime, unfortunately, some drivers will have to traverse the hump extremely slowly in order to have a good chance of avoiding damage to their vehicles.
Best wishes
David Deriaz
