I took Sean up on his offer to show him the speed hump and discuss with him the situation with freedom of information requests demonstrating that the council hadn't in fact consulted with any disabled user group and that one of the user groups was inappropriate to be consulted on this matter as it was a charity that represents blind people! With this in mind Sean took photos of the speed hump and listen to my proposals. I clearly stated that the lead up to the speed hump was too short and the speed hump itself was too high possibly higher than the allowed height for a speed hump on the 1999 legislation. I stated that there were alternative options and that this was clearly not what Liz Lefferman was happy with. I explained that her solution to simply go the other way to Chipping Norton was not acceptable. I explained that there are several road users who have complained about damages to their vehicle so this isn't just a disability issue and explained that the time sensitive matter of the Churchill car show for classic cars is due June the 14th! As I mentioned this a classic car went over the hump and continued to bounce down the road for a further 10 to 12 meters. The pedestrian in the car looked extremely uncomfortable at having gone over such a high speed hump. An agricultural vehicle also tried to traverse the speed hump while we were there and again showed signs of distress as he bounced down the road from the suspension being clearly shaken. Sean had seen all he needed to see and rushed off to another appointment confident that we had presented the case well I am hopeful for a quick resolve that means the classic car show won't be impacted by the possibly illegal speed hump.
