Hoops After Dark is the only evening violence prevention program in Long Beach that combines sports and education. This program has been a lifeline for many young people, providing them with a safe space to engage in positive activities during peak hours of potential violence. By participating in basketball games and educational workshops, participants develop essential life skills and build strong community ties.

Despite its success, Hoops After Dark is currently underfunded and at risk of being discontinued. We need the City of Long Beach to allocate sufficient funds to ensure this vital program can continue serving our youth. Investing in Hoops After Dark means investing in a safer, more connected community.
