Urge the City of Bell to STOP the relocation plan of 400 families in the Bell Mobile Homes

Urge the City of Bell to STOP the relocation plan of 400 families in the Bell Mobile Homes
The Issue
Since 2020, the City of Bell has pushed for the sale of both the Bell Mobile Homes, and the Florence Village. 400 families from both mobile homes combined live on those properties. The City of Bell wishes to sell the mobile homes due to "worsening infrastructure" and annual deficits that have been paid for by revenue funds from the city. The City of Bell claims that the properties are to be replaced with "new and affordable housing for senior residents", retail, and restaurants. However, many of the residents of the mobile home parks are already low income. The parks residents include senior citizens, moderate-income residents, and low-income residents. In an impact report done in January, 56 respondent households from the Bell Mobile Homes were interviewed (this report does not include all the households from the mobile homes), and out of those 56 households, 164 people live in those respondent households. The impact report shows 108 adults, 56 children (under the age of 18), 45 seniors (62 years and older), and 31 disabled individuals live in the interviewed homes. Out of those 56 households, 43 responded with their gross household income. Out of those 43, all of them live on extremely low to low income. 74 households income are unknown. The City of Bell states that they want to create new affordable housing for the elderly, however many of these households are already low-income. Many residents are scared and unsure of the future of their homes, and many of them may not find other affordable housing. The City of Bell states that they will provide housing assistance once the plan is approved, however the relocation program they have hasn't even been approved yet! News on the housing and financial assistance is unclear, and, from Residential FAQs that have been answered, they state they will give "referrals to available housing, assistance with applications, transportation to viewings, etc." However, what if the residents are unable to afford any housing? Residents are scared, and Bell should stop the relocation process and sales of these homes that people have been living in for years. SIGN AND STOP THIS NOW!!
