This year, my friends, many fellow classmates and I discovered that the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) is cutting all outdoor education programs. These programs are incredibly important to us as they impart invaluable lessons on teamwork, leadership, and environmental stewardship. Participating in these programs has provided us with hands-on experiences that help us grow both academically and personally. Losing them feels like losing an integral part of our learning experience.

Recently, the TDSB announced it has made the "difficult decision" to close the outdoor education centre due to financial constraints. This decision will affect countless students across Toronto who benefit from these unique programs. Outdoor education not only enriches students' learning but also fosters a lifelong appreciation for nature and the environment. Removing these programs limits our opportunities to develop critical life skills in diverse and meaningful ways.

Statistics and studies have continually shown the benefits of outdoor education. According to research conducted by the Canadian Education Association, students who participate in outdoor learning experiences often demonstrate improved academic performance, better mental health, and enhanced social skills.
