Urge Supreme Court to protect stray dogs
Urge Supreme Court to protect stray dogs
The Issue
Being a human being, I can speak about my problems, but those innocent creatures can't even voice their distress. They can't stand for themselves right now, but we can! I don't want those beautiful souls to face any suffering or injustice. Stray dogs in Delhi are under threat due to a recent order requiring them to be placed in shelters. The problem is, the government lacks the necessary funds for their daily care, making these animals vulnerable to neglect and even death due to inadequate conditions.
The Supreme Court's directive may have been intended as a protective measure, but without sufficient funding and infrastructure, it could lead to unintended consequences, including the suffering and potential loss of life for these animals. Stray dogs have always been an integral part of our communities, providing companionship and security without asking for anything in return.
In Delhi alone, it is estimated that there are over 400,000 stray dogs. Many of these animals rely on the goodwill of people for food and care. Forcing them into underfunded shelters not only disrupts their lives but also places them in an environment where their well-being cannot be guaranteed.
We must urge the Supreme Court to reconsider its decision and explore alternative solutions that genuinely protect these animals. This could include increasing funding for community-based animal welfare programs, supporting sterilization initiatives to humanely control the stray population, and encouraging community involvement to ensure strays are fed and cared for responsibly without removing them from their familiar territories.
For the sake of these voiceless companions, sign this petition to demand a humane, practical, and compassionate solution that truly supports Delhi's stray dogs.
