Urge Stagecoach to maintain two number 6 buses per hour.

The Issue

As your local Conservative Councillors we understand the importance of the twice hourly number 6 bus to people in the district. We urge Stagecoach to revisit this decision and continue with a twice hourly number 6 bus.
This service is not just a means of transportation, but a lifeline that connects our communities - Herne Bay, Beltinge, Broomfield,Herne and Greenhill with Canterbury and Whitstable. It enables people to reach their workplaces, attend medical appointments, shop for essentials and most importantly prevent isolation by facilitating social interaction.
The current bus frequency provided much greater flexibility for individuals travel plans for those reliant upon public transport. According to data from Transport Focus (2019), approximately 61% of public transport users in our district are dependent on buses for work or education purposes. Moreover, Age Uk reports that over half of all people aged 75 and over live alone, having regular bus services can significantly help combat loneliness among this demographic.
We must remember that public transport is more than just a convenience; it’s an essential service that supports the economy and fosters community cohesion. Therefore we call upon Stagecoach to reconsider their decision and maintain two Number 6 buses per hour.

Please join us in urging Stagecoach to continue providing this vital service at its current frequency. Sign the petition today.
