Urge SPS to Re-evaluate Reopening Plan with Input from Students, Parents, and Teachers

Urge SPS to Re-evaluate Reopening Plan with Input from Students, Parents, and Teachers
The Issue
On February 26, 2021, Stamford announced that elementary and middle school hybrid students would return to in-person learning 5 days a week, beginning in early and middle March. It is currently working on a plan to return Apples Pre-K and high school hybrid students to do the same.
Currently, the administration is considering returning high school students to school 5 days a week. As students, we feel that there has been little to no student input for the high school plan. Additionally, many students do not feel like this option is safe for a variety of reasons. For example, by the end of March teachers may be vaccinated but students will not be. As of now, the CDC advises 6 feet of distance when possible, but we do not see how this will be possible if all students are in school. Rather than straight opposition to the idea, we would like to ask SPS to consider student opinions before coming to a final decision.
Please sign this petition if you would like SPS to consider all students, parents, and teachers' opinions before coming to the decision. Even if a student sample group is polled, we would like for a way for all students, parents, and teachers to make their voices heard. Your opinion matters.
Please feel free to voice your opinions in the comments.
Excerpt from CDC Guidelines: "Physical distancing (at least 6 feet) should be maximized to the greatest extent possible. To ensure physical distancing, schools should establish policies and implement structural interventions to promote physical distance of at least 6 feet between people. Cohorting or podding is recommended to minimize exposure across the school environment." (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/schools-childcare/operation-strategy.html)
