Das Problem

As an Indian citizen deeply concerned about the future of India, I have always admired the dedication and courage demonstrated by Abhijeet Dipke, Sonam Sir and all the members of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). Their relentless pursuit of justice and ability to amplify the voices of those who often remain unheard have been nothing short of inspirational for countless people across the nation.

However, in the spirit of that very admiration and concern, I am compelled to express my apprehension towards their decision to undertake an indefinite hunger strike. While hunger strikes have historically been a powerful tool for catalyzing change, they come with significant risks to the health and wellbeing of those involved. In instances where those in power remain unmoved, the personal cost to the individuals, such as Sonam Sir, can be tremendous.

History provides numerous examples where leaders have suffered greatly without achieving the desired political outcomes. Given the unpredictable nature of political responses, we fear that the noble intentions of the hunger strike may not lead to the anticipated changes, but instead pose unnecessary risks to those participating.

There are alternative avenues to demonstrate resistance and solidarity. Public dialogues, strategic litigation, and broader coalitions could be equally impactful in pushing forward our goals without risking the lives of our most committed advocates.

We must explore every possible method to ensure the welfare of those who champion our causes while still advocating for the justice, equality, and peace that India needs. By signing this petition, we encourage Sonam Sir and the CJP to reconsider their approach and seek other impactful ways to generate change.

Please sign this petition to ask Sonam Sir and CJP to reevaluate the hunger strike as a strategic action, prioritizing tactics that safeguard their health and continue to inspire our nation.
