Urge SEPTA to Increase Train Capacity with More Push-Pull Trains
The Issue
As a concerned citizen and regular commuter in Philadelphia, I believe that the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) can significantly increase train capacity and system-wide ridership by ordering more push-pull train sets. This includes ACS-64 electric locomotives, Bombardier (Alstom) multilevels with restrooms similar to those used by NJ Transit, and ALP-45DP dual-mode locomotives to restore former diesel routes that were cut back in the 1980s.
The benefits of such an investment would be manifold. Not only would it improve commuting conditions for thousands of Philadelphians daily, but it could also stimulate economic activity through increased mobility. Moreover, restoring former diesel routes could provide much-needed transportation options for communities currently underserved by public transit.
It is worth noting that similar measures have been successfully implemented by NJ Transit, resulting in improved service quality and increased ridership. By following this example, SEPTA has a unique opportunity to enhance its services while meeting the growing demand for efficient public transportation in our city.
Therefore, we call on SEPTA to take immediate action towards increasing its fleet of push-pull trains as a means of improving service quality and expanding access to public transportation across Philadelphia. Please sign this petition if you support this cause.
