Seneca Falls holds a special place in the heart of many as the birthplace of Women's Rights. As a community, we take immense pride in this legacy, a proud history that draws national attention and tourism to our town. However, as we continue celebrating the strides made towards gender equality, there remains an inequity within our own community that urgently needs addressing: the disparity in the facilities provided for the girls' softball games compared to those for the boys.

The girls’ softball field, unlike its counterpart, faces significant issues that hinder the players from enjoying and excelling in their sport. Firstly, the scoreboard is non-functional, depriving players and attendees alike from tracking game progress and celebrating achievements in real-time. Additionally, the announcement equipment is faulty, which limits the atmosphere and excitement associated with the games, making it impossible to broadcast play-by-play commentary and engage the audience fully.

Most critically, the absence of lighting prevents the girls from hosting night games, a beloved feature that adds to the community spirit and engagement. This lack of lighting not only unfairly limits their playing time and opportunities but also sends a broader message of inequality in support and resources.

For a town synonymous with equality and progress, providing the girls with subpar facilities contradicts our heritage and the principles for which we stand. It is crucial that the girls' experiences on the field are given equal importance and quality as those provided to the boys.

We believe that by addressing these issues effectively, Seneca Falls Little League can create a fair and equal sporting environment for everyone. Fixing the scoreboard, updating the announcement equipment, and installing adequate lighting are actionable steps towards ensuring that the girls experience the same joy and opportunities as all Little League participants.

We call on the Seneca Falls Little League to prioritize these improvements and honor our town's legacy by promoting equality on and off the field. Let us come together to create a level playing field for our young athletes and showcase our true commitment to equality.
