The daily grind of traffic congestion has become an unbearable reality for many commuters who use the Proefplaas interchange from the N4 West to the N1. For individuals who travel this route, the issue goes far beyond the frustration of longer travel times. It is a matter of improving the quality of life for us, the residents of South Africa. A two-lane expansion holds the promise of transforming our day-to-day existence - less time spent in traffic translates to more time with our families and the pursuit of our personal goals.

The current situation, of a single lane, has created a bottleneck and safety concern between these two major national roads. The impact of the expansion on road safety cannot be overstated. With improved infrastructure, long, stressful journeys and the risk of accidents could be dramatically reduced.

Moreover, better accessibility can foster economic growth by positively affecting facets of our society such as jobs, education, and healthcare. For many of us, this expansion symbolises progress and hope—an investment in the quality of life of South Africans.

The land on the left of the interchange  is used as the SANRAL sports grounds instead of being used to expand the highway. 

We implore SANRAL and Bakwena Platinum Corridor Concessionaire (Pty) Ltd, to heed our call and expand the Proefplaas interchange from a single lane to a double lane.
