I am a resident of the beautiful village of Whissendine, UK. However, our peace and tranquility are repeatedly disrupted by severe flooding. This issue is not only personal to me but also affects the entire community, causing safety concerns and significant loss of business.

The brook that runs through our village is the main culprit behind these floods. It needs urgent dredging and widening to allow water to flow freely and prevent overflow. The White Lion Inn, a beloved local pub, has been flooded three times in just six months resulting in substantial business loss and property damage.

The flooding doesn't just affect businesses; it cuts off our village entirely. Roads become impassable for pedestrians and vehicles alike - even emergency services struggle to reach us during these periods. This poses a significant risk particularly for the elderly residents who may need urgent medical attention.

We cannot stand by while our homes, businesses, and lives are disrupted by this preventable issue. We call on Rutland County Council to take immediate action - dredge the brook running through Whissendine, widen its banks where necessary, improve flood defenses around vulnerable properties like The White Lion Inn.
