The Issue

Lincoln Park is a small, tight-knit community of hard-working people who take pride in their homes and their community. It has always represented a legacy of hard work and neighborly friendship, boasting of starter homes, wonderful schools, and strong sense of community spirit. However, for some members of our community, this legacy has been compromised.

Ruby Recycling has set up their car crushing operations in the heart of our cherished neighborhood. This industrial operation infringes on the serenity of our lives, disrupting the peace and harmony we've strived to maintain. The noise, the disturbance, and the incongruity of this operation within a residential area are affecting the quality of life for residents, and it's time to address this.

Car crushing operations generate a significant amount of noise, which can exceed over 85 decibels, a level considered harmful by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) over an extended period. Ruby Recycling's operation's cause vibrational disturbances dozens of times every day which quite literally shake the foundations of our homes. The noise pollution, visual pollution, and air quality, disturbs sleep, causes stress, and affects the learning environment for our children attending local schools (Ruby Recycling is directly adjacent to Crowley Center Pre-School).

Given these implications, we respectfully request that Ruby Recycling either conceal their operations to reduce noise, visual, and air pollution, or consider relocating their operations to an industrial area where it would be more suited. We ask that Ruby Recycling uphold and respect the task of preserving the values of the residents of Lincoln Park for the safety, peace, and well-being of its residents, which make Lincoln Park a truly special place.

Our neighborhood is our pride, our reward for hard work, and our sanctuary. Let us keep it that way. Please sign this petition to advocate for the wellbeing of our community and preserve the tranquility of Lincoln Park.
