Riot Games' popular game, League of Legends, uses a system called Vanguard Anti-Cheat to ensure fair gameplay. However, this system is always on and may pose privacy concerns for users due to its deep access into the computer's systems. This petition calls for Riot Games to reconsider the use of Vanguard Anti-Cheat or at least modify it so that it isn't always active when not playing the game. According to a report by Cybersecurity Insiders, 64% of gamers have expressed concerns about how gaming companies handle their data (Cybersecurity Insiders, 2020). It is also worrying that a company that was hacked in 2023 will now have always on kernel level access. We believe that addressing this concern will not only protect players' rights but also increase trust in Riot Games.
