As a concerned citizen, I've witnessed the non-radicalized members of the Republican Party, along with their Democratic counterparts, being hindered in their efforts to represent our views and wishes through meaningful action on crucial issues such as budgets, borders, foreign and domestic aid. A full year has been lost to internal disputes and political theater of impeachment and Russian fueled investigations. We voters deserve better; so do the serious Congressmen who went to Washington D.C. with a purpose to serve.

This petition is an appeal for all retiring Republican congressmen in the U.S House of Representatives to switch their affiliation from Republican Party to Independent. This change will allow proactive legislation by returning majority control back into the hands of Democrats while still enabling these retiring congressmen the ability to continue advancing conservative agendas through bipartisan negotiation.

As Independents, they can vote according to conscience on matters that radical members of their current party refuse or are unable to bring forth for discussion or advancement within their own party ranks. 

In 2019 alone, over 400 bills passed by Democrats were blocked in Senate due largely partisan politics (source: Congressional Research Service). By making this switch, we can reduce such gridlocks and foster more productive legislative sessions.
