We, the dedicated players of Apex Legends, have invested our time, energy, and resources into this incredible game. It has become an integral part of our lives. However, we are deeply concerned about the implementation of Skill-Based Matchmaking (SBMM) and hidden Matchmaking Rating (MMR) in all game modes.

We believe that there is no need for such features in a game with a dedicated ranked playlist. This includes removing any SBMM and hidden MMR in ranked games as well. For instance, if a masters or predator player is grinding through the ranks in gold level play, they should be facing other gold players regardless of skill level.

This system not only hampers fair competition but also undermines the spirit of gaming by creating unnecessary barriers for new or less skilled players. According to research conducted by Newzoo Global Games Market Report 2020, player satisfaction significantly influences long-term engagement with games.

Furthmore, speaking from personal expierience. As a day one player, competitor, streamer, and leaderboard player. I have witnessed first hand the negative effects that SBMM and hidden MMR can have on a community. Players do not improve because they are not facing harder competition, great players get bored and burnt out fighting those players equivalent to them in skill. The game in general becomes very stale, and very boring. 

We call upon Respawn Entertainment to listen to their community's concerns and take immediate action to remove SBMM and hidden MMR from Apex Legends across all its game modes. We urge you to sign this petition so that together we can make Apex Legends an even better experience for everyone involved.
