The Issue

As an American activist dedicated to Nigeria, I am profoundly distressed by the ongoing and heart wrenching situation in Oyo State, Nigeria.

I am calling on President Donald J. Trump and the United States Government to immediately intervene, deploy intelligence resources, and exert maximum diplomatic pressure to rescue 46 innocent people, mostly children as young as two years old, who were brutally abducted from their classrooms in Oyo State, Nigeria.

On Friday, May 15, 2026, the unimaginable happened. Heavily armed bandits launched a coordinated, daytime raid across three schools in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State: Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Yawota, Community Grammar School, and L.A. Primary School in Esiele.

Terrorists opened fire indiscriminately, killing an innocent teacher on the spot. They then rounded up 46 victims, including toddlers like two year old Christiana Akumbi, three year old Sikiru Salami, and four year old Abdul Salam Toib, along with their teachers and a vice principal. They marched them into the dense forest reserves.

As of today, these babies, children, and educators are still being held captive in the bush by ruthless criminals. Their parents are living a waking nightmare, and the local communities are paralyzed by fear.

We must urge President Donald J. Trump and the United States Government to act decisively and compassionately. The power of American diplomacy can turn the tide. It’s crucial to deploy cutting edge intelligence resources and exert maximum diplomatic pressure on relevant authorities and entities, to secure their immediate release. Time is of the essence, and every moment counts in saving these young lives from prolonged trauma.

Statistically, swift intervention and international pressure have proven invaluable in hostage situations worldwide. By leveraging these resources and moral authority, the U.S. can play a pivotal role in reuniting these children and teachers with their anguished families. The global community looks up to America for leadership, especially in critical human rights and humanitarian issues such as this.

The abduction of these schoolchildren not only disrupts their education but threatens their peace and security, casting a long shadow over their future. We cannot stand idly by while families continue to suffer, their children’s futures hanging in uncertainty, their pleas echoing unanswered through the months.

Let us come together to demand immediate action, using our voices to plead for rescue and bringing awareness to this pressing issue. Please, join me in calling upon President Trump, the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to put diplomatic and national security efforts at the forefront of rescuing these innocent lives.

Your signature can amplify our call and potentially be the catalyst for change. We need your support to bring these kids and teachers home to Nigeria safely. Sign this petition and help us shine a beacon of hope towards their safe return.
