As an ardent fan and collector of Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) products, I am witnessing a disconcerting trend of scalping, rip-and-ship schemes, hoarding, inflated prices, and short printing that are significantly diminishing the joy for regular enthusiasts. The once accessible and entertaining product line has turned into an exclusive high priced "investment" arena, locking out average mid-low income individuals who derive genuine joy from these cards.

The Pokemon Company, renowned creator of this beloved product, needs to address these issues urgently. It's worth noting that the rate of Pokemon TCG products' price inflation has been rapidly increasing. According to a report by the Toy Book, a Pokemon TCG pack's retail price, which should be around $4, often shoots up to a staggering $80 or more on resale markets, thanks largely to scalpers (Toy Book, 2021). This is an unacceptable deterrent to the average, loyal fan who simply cannot afford these exorbitant prices. Furthermore, in areas where the products are scarce due to hoarding and short printing, many are forced to pay the scalped prices.

The Pokemon Company can play a pivotal role by increasing production to meet the high demand, implementing policies to deter scalping, and ensuring fair pricing. By doing so, they can make their products more accessible and bring back the original joy associated with them. Pokemon TCG products should be more than just an "investment"; they should be a source of happiness for all fans regardless of their income.
