Urge Peter Lucido to Drop Harsh Charges against Detroit Animal Welfare Group

Urge Peter Lucido to Drop Harsh Charges against Detroit Animal Welfare Group
The Issue
I am reaching out in passionate support of the Detroit Animal Welfare Group (DAWG), an organization near and dear to my heart and to many others. DAWG has been a beacon of hope for countless animals; rescuing, rehabilitating, and providing care to those that others would not or could not. They have given a second chance to severely abused or injured domestic animals and have tirelessly worked to rehabilitate wildlife, giving them another chance at life that isn't ended prematurely through euthanasia. There is no other organization in our district capable of providing the help to wildlife that DAWG is.
Our beloved DAWG is under threat. Peter Lucido has brought forth criminal charges - 4 counts of habituating deer - against the organization. These are not charges to take lightly; they could lead to the revocation of our wildlife rehabilitation permit and the consequent euthanization of the many animals currently under DAWG's care. It is tragic that our resources are being directed towards attacking this incredibly worthy non-profit, while those found guilty of animal abuse get off with minimal consequences.
We plead with Peter Lucido, bearing in mind that he is well-aware of the continuous struggle and harassment endured by DAWG at the hands of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), to reconsider these charges. We ask him to think of the invaluable work DAWG does and the immense detriment his actions could cause. Moreover, it is a plea to use our resources wisely, not punishing those who dedicate their lives to animal welfare, but focusing our efforts on combatting animal abuse.
We urge Peter Lucido to drop the charges against DAWG, protecting the important work this organization does and countless innocent lives. Stand with us, exhibit our shared commitment to animal welfare, and support DAWG in its time of need. Sign this petition urging Peter Lucido to reconsider these charges.
