Urge Pasadena City College to continue 2026-2027 swim season
The Issue
As a proud member of the Pasadena City College Swim Team, I find myself in a difficult position. I have dedicated countless hours to this program and have had the honor of representing this school. The postponement of our 2026-2027 season is deeply disappointing, and I believe it is important for our community to understand why we are speaking up.
The PCC Swim Team has competed at the highest level in the 3C2A. This past season, our 200 Medley Relay won the South Coast Conference Championship and went on to compete at the State Championship. A teammate also qualified for states in two individual events. These results came from months of early morning practices, personal sacrifice, and a true commitment to this sport.
Despite these accomplishments, PCC Athletics let our head coach go because he was unable to recruit a full women’s roster, and then decided to postpone the entire aquatics program for the 2026-2027 season. Neither the men’s nor the women’s team was responsible for that. Both teams showed up and gave everything they had all season long.
This is a resource that is being taken away from us. We are student-athletes who have earned the right to compete, and we are advocating for the chance to continue doing that. Competing for PCC is something we have worked for, and it should not be taken away when we did nothing wrong.
We are not asking for anything beyond what we have already earned. We simply want the opportunity to continue competing for our school. We respectfully urge PCC Athletics to explore every option to restore the 2026-2027 season, and we ask our fellow students, faculty, and community members to stand with us by signing this petition.
Your support means everything to us. Thank you.
