Urge NPC for Night Watches to Protect Singapore's Cats

Urge NPC for Night Watches to Protect Singapore's Cats
The Issue
In Singapore, our feline friends are an integral part of our neighborhoods, bringing joy and companionship to many. However, the nightlife in urban areas can pose significant threats to their safety. From speeding vehicles to potential abuse, stray and outdoor cats face numerous dangers when the sun goes down.
We propose to address this issue by urging the Singapore Neighbourhood Police Centre (NPC) to initiate night patrols dedicated to ensuring the safety of our community cats. Night watches can deter harmful activities and provide a reassuring presence in our residential areas. These patrols would not only protect our cats but also enhance community safety overall.
Moreover, collaboration with town councils to organize residential volunteer groups can further reinforce these efforts. Volunteers can help to keep these cats in sheltered areas, particularly near public spaces during the night, providing them with a safer environment. By creating designated safe zones and educating the community about the importance of cohabitating peacefully with these animals, we can make a significant difference.
According to a study conducted by Animal Welfare Societies in Singapore, there are an estimated 60,000 community cats in the country, with a significant percentage residing in high-traffic areas. Reports have shown a worrying trend of accidents involving these cats, which highlights the urgent need for systematic protection measures.
Implementing night watches and utilizing volunteer efforts can significantly reduce the risks faced by these animals. This initiative is not only a compassionate response but an essential step towards building a more humane and caring society.
Join our cause to ensure the safety and well-being of Singapore's community cats. Your signature can encourage the NPC and town councils to take action, steering us towards a safer environment for both humans and cats alike. Please sign this petition and let your voice be heard.
