I am a lifelong gamer and have fond memories of playing on my Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and later, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). The 'Super' in SNES was more than just a prefix; it represented a revolutionary upgrade in processing power, gameplay, and immersion. With reports of a new Nintendo Switch console in development, I believe Nintendo has a great opportunity to rekindle that sense of anticipation and excitement that many of us experienced during the transition from NES to SNES. I propose that the new console be named 'Super Nintendo Switch,' maintaining the legacy evolving from NES to SNES.

This renaming has both a nostalgic and a branding value. From a nostalgic viewpoint, it caters to lifelong fans like myself who fondly remember the original transition to 'Super'. From a branding viewpoint, naming it 'Super Nintendo Switch' makes it stand out as an upgrade from the original, rather than simply being a successor. By not just appending a '2' in the name, Nintendo can help establish its significant advancements over the original, on par with the leap that the SNES represented back in the days.

Since its launch in 2017, the Nintendo Switch has sold over 150 million units worldwide. That's a testament to the sheer love and dedication fans have for the Nintendo brand and the quality of its products. 

I saw an argument that the console will fail if they do that because parents will think it isn't a new console and just a basic upgrade. I believe this is not true AT ALL parents grew up when the NES and SNES were a thing and most of them understand the fundamental differences between the two despite the similar names.
