Urge Newport City Council to Allow An Expert Landfill Search Team To Recover 8000 Bitcoin

The Issue

For 10 years, James Howells has been tirelessly working towards retrieving his lost 8000 Bitcoin from the Newport Landfill.  This is not just a personal endeavour; it's an effort that could potentially inject much needed £millions into our local economy.  Despite this, Newport City Council has consistently refused to meet with James, or the professional recovery team he has assembled.

James' commitment is not only impressive but inspiring. He isn't just trying to recover his lost wealth; he wants to use it for the betterment of our community.  Yet, despite these noble intentions and the potential economic benefit, Newport City Council remains unresponsive.

The refusal of Newport City Council is not only disappointing but also lacks foresight.  According to Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance (2020), there are approximately 18.5 million Bitcoins in circulation worldwide, with a significant portion believed to be lost or inaccessible due to unforeseen circumstances like James'.  The value of these Bitcoins today stands at over £250 billion.

A further benefit of Newport City Council using some common sense in regards to this endeavour is that - to quote broadcaster Jeremy Vine:

"If I was the council, I would definitely say yes, because you'd have the world's media there and Newport would suddenly be on the map, big time, around the world."

Residents may already be aware of just how prolifically reported this story is globally, so to have our own Council support this project would not only provide a colossal PR win for them, but would entitle them to proclaim to the world what a forward thinking, modern authority they are.

By allowing James and his team access to the landfill (and remember, specifically a disused section of the landfill!) in order to search for this digital treasure trove, Newport would be setting a precedent for other cities around the world dealing with similar situations, while simultaneously boosting the local economy significantly.

We urge you - residents of Newport - stand with us in demanding that our city council allow this search operation. Let's support innovation and economic growth in our community!
