Urge Netflix to Acquire Rights to Shortland Street, the Inspirational NZ TV Show

Urge Netflix to Acquire Rights to Shortland Street, the Inspirational NZ TV Show
The Issue
I write this petition from a place of personal importance and passion. Shortland Street, a television soap in New Zealand, has not only been a source of entertainment, but also an inspirational beacon during my tough times. Its unique storylines and captivating context make it a gem in the realm of television.
Shortland Street stands out for its portrayal of diversity, particularly within the LGBT+ community. With an emphasis on positive representation, this New Zealand TV soap shines as one of the gayest shows currently on TV. In a time when representation in media is unbalanced, and many groups, specifically the lesbian community, find genuine portrayals in short supply, shows like Shortland Street play a significant role.
The soap breaks stereotypes by showcasing a range of human experiences without focusing too deeply on labels, which is a unique narrative approach in our media landscape. Even though media representation has improved in recent years, there is still a long way to go. Data from GLAAD's 2020 "Where We Are on TV" report shows that of all LGBT+ characters on prime-time scripted series, less than 2% are lesbian characters - one of the smallest representation percentages out of all portrayed identities.
By bringing Shortland Street to a broader global audience, Netflix would send a strong message about the value of diversity in storytelling and its commitment to representation. That's why I urge Netflix to consider acquiring the rights to Shortland Street, a truly important and representative TV show from New Zealand. Please, sign this petition to show your support and help give this incredible show the global visibility it deserves.
I got hooked on this show through Harper and Phil. Dr. Harper Whitley is played by the wonderfully talented, exquisite and gorgeous Ria Vandervis. Dr. Phil Grayson is played by beautiful, amazing, witty, brilliant and kind Jane Wills. I have written at article to express my admiration and give you a preview of what the show is like:

Hopefully, this can whet your appetite and make you see truly the wonder that this show is.
This show is operating under reduced funding. They’re going to cut down programming from 5 to 3 nights per week. I urge you to sign and spread this petition so we can make some noise for the Sapphic Community.
Please put in a request for this show officially on Netflix here: https://help.netflix.com/en/titlerequest
Please support this petition to spread more love and hope in the world. Share it with as many people as possible!
Thank you for taking the time to read this and hope I’ve managed to convince you to sign this petition!
