Urge NCBWWA to refund Sycamore Brewery products

Urge NCBWWA to refund Sycamore Brewery products
The Issue
As a parent, this situation hits especially close to home for me because I have a 13-year-old daughter. I am calling on the North Carolina Beer & Wine Wholesalers Association (NCBWWA) to provide refunds for products purchased from Sycamore Brewery. The brewery owner has been charged with the sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl. It is appalling that the NCBWWA claims this doesn't fit the exemptions allowing for returns or exchanges of Sycamore Brewery's products.
We must hold the right people accountable, and this organization must not protect businesses under such circumstances. Local businesses carry a moral responsibility not only to their customers but to the community they serve. Customers should not inadvertently support those who violate the trust and safety of our community’s youth.
Statistics reveal that one in nine girls experiences sexual abuse at the hands of an adult before turning 18. It’s alarming and heart-wrenching, yet these numbers emphasize why organizations need to take a stand, retract support, and help the community do the same in cases where such egregious acts are reported.
While exemptions and policies are necessary to maintain order in business transactions, they should not override the gravity of sexual assault allegations, particularly those involving minors. The NCBWWA's rigid adherence to their exchange policy in light of the criminal charges does not reflect sound ethical standards nor support for the victims of these heinous crimes.
We ask the NCBWWA to exhibit compassion and leadership in this matter by allowing refunds for Sycamore Brewery products. Such a gesture would communicate clearly that the safety and well-being of our children take precedence over profit and bureaucracy. This issue transcends business; it’s about standing up for what is right and safeguarding the vulnerable in our community.
Stand with us in urging the NCBWWA to reconsider its policy for Sycamore Brewery. Your support can bring about change and emphasize that we do not condone any form of abuse. Please sign and share this petition to ensure that the NCBWWA acts in the best interest of the community.
