Urge National Crime Agency and Government to Address Pro-Suicide Forums in the UK

Urge National Crime Agency and Government to Address Pro-Suicide Forums in the UK
The Issue
The site has been banned in Australia, Germany and many more countries yet the UK has failed to do so. The UK has known about this for years and with the correct measures, a lot of deaths could’ve been prevented.
These forums not only promote suicide but also provide detailed instructions on how to carry it out, leading to an alarming increase in suicide rates. The Times, BBC, The New York Times, The Daily Mail and an increasing amount of tabloids have reported on this topic but still, not enough is being done. In the name of Michael Dunham, Gary Cooper, Joe Nihill and thousands MORE individuals and families, this needs to be banned. The BBC opened up an investigation into the site and released footage today (24/10/23) exposing one of the owners of the site and showing the bereaved families whose family members were victims of the site, this has been an incredible step in taking this site down but more needs to be done.
According to Samaritans, there were 6,859 suicides in the UK and Republic of Ireland in 2018 alone (source: Samaritans Suicide Statistics Report 2020). We believe that these forums have played a significant role in this figure. The National Crime Agency, Police and Government need to acknowledge this growing problem and take immediate action.
We call upon these authorities not just for stricter regulation on such online content but also for increased awareness campaigns about the dangers of these forums. We urge them to invest more resources into mental health services so that those struggling with suicidal thoughts can find help before it's too late.
It would be greatly appreciated if people could sign this petition to bring awareness to the National Crime Agency, Government, Police services and people who have the power to help.
