The Issue

With the global supply chain disrupted due to the tariffs, Windows 11 requirements are not remotely realistic. The last thing that is needed is a bunch of functional systems ending up in landfills. I have helped friends and family with their computers for years, and they do not have the money to buy newer hardware, especially ones impacted by tariffs. These tariffs implemented by the current U.S. Presidential Administration have created an economic climate where upgrading technology isn't just difficult, it's nearly impossible for many.

The transition to Windows 11 from Windows 10 requires hardware that many current computers do not support unless users invest in costly upgrades. With tariffs driving up costs, the purchase of new devices just to run the latest software is a financial burden that many cannot afford. This is an environmental issue as much as it is a financial one; forcing perfectly good hardware into obsolescence places unnecessary stress on the planet's limited resources.

Microsoft has the power to alleviate these challenges by extending support for Windows 10 beyond its planned deadline. By doing so, they acknowledge the difficulties faced by their user base and contribute positively to both individual households and the environment. This small act could prevent countless computers from becoming electronic waste while offering families a reprieve from expensive upgrades in these trying economic times.

The technology community, everyday users, and environmentally conscious individuals urge Microsoft to take this reasonable and compassionate step. Sustainable technology practices are more important now than ever, especially in this chaotic economic environment.

Please sign this petition to encourage Microsoft to extend Windows 10 support and help create a sustainable future for our technology reliance.
