Urge McDonald’s to End Snapchat Partnership

Urge McDonald’s to End Snapchat Partnership
The Issue
The National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) is calling on McDonald’s to immediately end a newly created promotional partnership with a dangerous social media platform, Snapchat, to offer customers one month free of Snapchat+.
There are critical facts about Snapchat that McDonald’s was likely unaware of when entering into this arrangement. Snap, Inc., Snapchat's parent company, are under federal and state investigation for their role in facilitating the sale of deadly drugs, including fentanyl.
This includes:
- SNAP, Inc. is the subject of an ongoing Department of Justice investigation into the sale of fake pills containing lethal amounts of fentanyl.
- SNAP, Inc. is also the target of one of the largest wrongful death class action lawsuits in California state history. The case, Neville et al v. Snap, Inc., centers on product flaws that enabled and facilitated the sale of lethal amounts of fentanyl, leading to the poisoning of children
- According to a Bloomberg News documentary, while all social media platforms face issues associated with harms to minors, Snapchat’s features are uniquely designed in ways that facilitate the sale of illegal drugs.
This partnership contradicts McDonald’s decades-long commitment to protecting children and fostering safe communities and aligns it with a platform under federal scrutiny for contributing to the fentanyl crisis and child exploitation.
Join us in appealing to McDonald's to prioritize the well-being of its youngest customers and act responsibly by halting this ill-advised partnership. Your signature can make a significant impact in safeguarding our communities and youth across the country.
