I am not a regular user of the MBTA Commuter Rail, but I firmly believe that it is in our best interest to urge the MBTA to order ACS-64 electric locomotives for electrified service on the Providence/Stoughton Line. The plans are already in place to electrify the MBTA Commuter Rail, and these electric locomotives could be a game-changer.

Electric locomotives like the ACS-64 are known for their efficiency compared to diesel engines. They can reach higher speeds more quickly and maintain them more easily, reducing travel times and increasing schedule reliability. Furthermore, they produce zero emissions at point of use which aligns with Boston's commitment towards environmental sustainability.

The introduction of these efficient machines might expedite the process of complete rail electrification. It could also catalyze progress on projects like North-South Rail Link - another initiative close to my heart - for which I have a separate petition.

This is not just about improving our daily commute or making travel more convenient; it's about embracing technology that can make our city greener and our lives better. Let's urge MBTA to take this step towards modernization and sustainability by ordering ACS-64 electric locomotives for service on the Providence/Stoughton line.
