Urge MBPP to Humanely Trap and Surrender Stray Dogs for Neutering

The Issue

I am a local feeder in Sungai Ara, Bayan Lepas Penang, and I have witnessed the heartbreaking plight of stray dogs in our community. The population of these strays is rapidly increasing due to a lack of neutering. It's estimated that around 90% of these dogs are not spayed, leading to an uncontrollable growth in their numbers.

Despite the willingness of NGOs like IAPWA to neuter and release these dogs, they lack the manpower required for this task. Our only hope lies with Majlis Bandaraya Pulau Pinang (MBPP), who has the capacity to humanely trap these animals.

Regrettably, despite numerous calls for action, MBPP has yet to respond effectively. We are not asking for violence or abuse towards these innocent creatures; we simply want them caught and handed over safely to NGOs equipped with resources necessary for their neutering.

The situation is dire. Female dogs struggle daily trying to find food both for themselves and their puppies while also constantly at risk from motorists' hit-and-run incidents. It's devastating witnessing this cycle repeat itself when it could be prevented through effective neutering programs.

We need MBPP to step up and fulfill its responsibility towards our local dog community which is growing at an alarming rate - like wildfire unchecked. This petition calls on MBPP not only as an act of compassion but also as a necessary measure in managing our stray dog population effectively.

Please sign this petition urging MBPP into action – let’s give these strays a chance at healthier lives while maintaining balance within our community.

Even as we are collecting signatures, puppies are being hit by cars n motorbikes. The last case happened at around 1 am on the 4 April.
