Urge local authorities to remove hazardous tree

Urge local authorities to remove hazardous tree
The Issue
The tree in my yard has been/become a pressing concern. It's limbs stretch over the main road and the trunk leans dangerously toward the path that serves as a vital corridor for vehicles entering our town. Including bus traffic. The Department of Highways (DOH) claims it's out of their jurisdiction since the trunk is just beyond their right of way, but the limbs certainly are not. It's frustrating that I'm being held responsible for a situation I cannot financially manage. I did not plant the tree or remove the limbs on the other side to cause the leaning. Tree removal is an expensive service, and doing so would disrupt traffic considerably.
Recently, this issue was thrust into the public eye when a bus driver posted about it on Facebook, stirring unrest in the community. It was disheartening to read that they claimed to have spoken to us about the matter, which never happened. Since then, there's been increasing pressure on me to remove the tree, despite my limited means, as well as logistics of removal.
This petition is not just about seeking help but finding a fair resolution for our community's safety and accessibility. Trees that grow beyond private property boundaries, interfering with public roadways, should be the responsibility of municipal authorities, especially when they pose a threat to infrastructure and safety. A petition seems like a much better way to handle this, instead of just a Facebook post, to dog us. Cause action, not just uproar.
We need the local authorities to take charge of the situation by:
1. Assessing the potential hazard posed by the tree and its encroaching limbs.
2. Providing municipal assistance for its safe removal.
3. Ensuring the safety and accessibility of the road for all commuters without imposing the financial burden on private citizens.
By signing this petition, you are supporting a proactive approach to ensure community safety and taking a stand for sensible management of public road access and maintenance. Let's find a reasonable solution that ensures our roads remain safe and accessible to all.
