The Issue

I am a mother and a devoted vegan, who shares an incredible bond with my son through our shared love for Lego. However, it has come to our attention that some of the substances used in the production of these beloved bricks may have an animal-based origin. This revelation is deeply troubling to us and we cannot continue supporting a product that potentially contributes to animal suffering.

In response to my query about the vegan status of their products, Lego confirmed that while their bricks are not tested on animals, animal-derived products are indeed part of some formulas. In other cases, they admitted uncertainty about whether certain substances could have an animal-based origin.

The global trend towards veganism is undeniable - according to The Vegan Society's 2018 survey, there were 600,000 vegans in Great Britain alone - up from just 150,000 in 2006. This shift reflects growing consumer awareness and concern for animal welfare as well as environmental sustainability.

We believe it's time for Lego - a company loved by millions worldwide - to align itself with this movement towards compassion and sustainability by ensuring all its products are completely free from any form of animal exploitation.

We urge Lego not only to investigate the origins of all substances used in their production process but also commit publicly to transitioning towards fully plant-based materials. By doing so, they would set a powerful example within the toy industry while respecting the values of countless consumers like us who care deeply about animals' wellbeing.

Please sign this petition if you believe no child's play should contribute indirectly or directly towards any form of cruelty or harm inflicted upon animals.
